About the Commission The Covid-19 pandemic exposed deep and diverse weaknesses in U.S. global health security policy and infrastructure and triggered massive health, economic, and social crises. The CSIS Commission on Strengthening America’s Health Security drove discourse and developed concrete, pragmatic action agendas for U.S. health security policy in the Covid-19 era. The Commission brought together a distinguished and diverse group of senior leaders and was advised by a group of preeminent subject experts. Initiated in April 2018, the Commission concluded its efforts in the fall of 2022. Its work continues under the auspices of its successor project, the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security.
