On June 9, 2021, the CSIS Commission on Strengthening America’s Health Security hosted a conversation with Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK-04), Member of the CSIS Commission on Strengthening America’s Health Security, Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, and Member of the Appropriations Defense Subcommittee. J. Stephen Morrison, Senior Vice President and Director of the CSIS Global Health Policy Center, joined with the Congressman in a discussion of timely health-security issues:

How should we assess progress in the national vaccination campaign? What should Americans expect heading into the fall? Has emergency funding for pandemic response succeeded in strengthening America’s public health capacities? The Biden administration’s FY 2022 budget includes $1 billion for global health security—how can this be best applied? During a time of national renewal, what are the most promising avenues for generating bipartisan cooperation in Congress?
